Books I Didn’t Get To In 2017

Let's be honest, there were a lot of books I didn't get to in 2017.

I have every intention of doing so, but just ran out of time! There truly never is enough time in the day—especially when you feel your TBR staring at your back when you do something other than reading…

This is a mixed list of anticipated 2017 releases and books that I’ve collected over the years for the purpose of collecting dust (apparently).

I know! It's like I'm swearing or something!

While I do love going out and buying new books (or searching Amazon for deals), it does me no good to let books pile up to look pretty and be left to the mercy of the god of dust bunnies. These are five books that I have, and totally intended to read last year but…didn’t. Let’s hope I can find some time to do so this year!

A Shadow Bright and Burning by Jessica Cluess

I can't tell you how many times I've picked this book up, read the first page, then set it back down for another few months. Maybe I just like staring at the pretty cover? I don't know what it is about this book! It's even adorned my nightstand months on end, just begging me to read it! sits. This year, it shall be read!

The Shadow Land by Elizabeth Kostova

Published in 2017, I can't believe I haven't jumped onto this book! Or rather, into this book. No, I don't jump on my books, thank you very much. Elizabeth Kostova is one of my favorite authors. When I saw that this was coming on last year, I immediately pre-ordered it, and waiting in agony for it to come out! Well, apparently my agony wasn't that powerful to force my hand. I do know that Kostova's writing demands time. Her elaborate writing doesn't make for a quick read, and perhaps that's why I put this one off.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik

Writing this list is making me frustrated with myself. Here's yet another book that I've been meaning to read since it was published! My closest book friend has read this twice, and keeps imploring me to do so as well. For me, when I say, "I'll start it tomorrow" also can be taken as "I'll think about it two years from now and maybe start it then!" No! this isn't a good reading tactic.

An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

This book came out last September (I thought it was November until I just checked---man, how time flies!) When I saw it, I couldn't resist how beautiful the cover was and it sounded like an interesting plot! Since that time, I've heard it compared to the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, which I don't like or support. I'm really hoping I didn't waste my money on this one!

Roseblood by A.G. Howard

So this one I'm not going to be so hard on myself with. While yes, it was published last year, and yes, I do want to read it, I was quite apprehensive when I purchased it. The Phantom of the Opera is one of my all-time favorite books, musicals, and plays. This is a retelling of that story, and I'm afraid to pick it up in case it is a poor misrepresentation of the original. Either way, I'm still going to read it.

So, there you have it.
What are some reads that you've been putting off, for some reason, or no reason at all?
Let me know in the comments below!
